Garrett, Meg and I just came from your house, we both really enjoyed our visit with you. I enjoyed thumb wrestling and I'm not going to forget that the next time I come we're going to arm wrestle LEFT arms. You better practice because there will be no cheating ( like the hug)!!! Dottie, Larry and Jordan positivity is always far more rewarding! You have a long way to go, but look over your shoulder and see how far you've come. Call if you need anything! Theda and Meg

Garrett, I wrote once before, shortly after your accident. I did an internship at KBDC during your last year of preschool. I was glad to hear that you are finally home, and that you are progressing better than was expected. My daughters are very happy to hear that you are home also. Every time they see your picture on the computer, they ask if you are getting better, and have been thrilled to hear all of the things you are doing now that you couldn't right after the accident. We wish you all the best with the rest of your recovery. Keep working hard and don't ever give up. From reading the messages on this page, it sounds to me like you have grown into a wonderful young man. Good luck in all you do in your future! I'm sure there are many successes to come! Love, Kathy, Layne, Keegan and Kenzie Burd

This message is for Garrett's mother "Dottie", I am Seth Schrecongost's step grandmother. My third son was in an auto accident and had a severe head injury and was in a coma. He spent a year at Harmarville, 6 months as an inpatient and he went to Harmarville every day for another 6 months for 8 hours a day as an outpatient. He was 2 days into his senior year at Grove City College at the time of his accident and tested at a 2nd grade level went he was admitted to Harmarville. I was told he would probably never go back to college and fortunately I did not listen to them, because they really do not know. I am happy to say, he did go back to Grove City and graduated. It was not an easy time for him or our family. He also went on and got his Master's degree at Slippery Rock University. You need to know that Slippery Rock has a program for students like Garrett and my son and they do all they can to help them succeed and to overcome any deficits they may have from their injuries. I was at the Senior night at Latrobe and saw your son and I remember that look, it was the same look my son had. I was upset that he was at home so soon, and I do hope he is continuing with some kind of therapy as I know from experience how important this is to their complete recovery. If you ever want to talk to me, you can let my son John Russo know and I will get in touch with you. Take care and do not give up because it is a very long, slow, frustrating process for them to get better, but it does happen with a lot of family support and prayers. Always, Joan

I am so glad that Garrett is finally home. How wonderful that he got to go to Senior Night. That had to be a very emotional night. Just reading the messages have you choked up. It sounds like he is doing great. I hope to be able to come down and visit. Hang in there. I think about you daily. Love, Shelby

Garrett- Alright well this is the last time that I will get the chance to put something on here for you, I think...So I'm so glad that you made it to your senior night football game...and that you made it home...I'm so proud of you...you are the strongest person that I know.. and I know you will not give up.. and no one else would let you either...I can't even believe that it's been almost 3 months.. that's CrAzY.. But you are doing a very good job.. I was SO happy over the weekend that I could have a little conversation with you...your changes are so rapid that it won't be TOO long before you ARE walking throughout that high school again.. smiling and talking to all of your friends there...and I know you can't wait.. I'm so happy and proud of you!! Keep pushing and striving forward...We all know that you can do it Garrett!!! Miss ya and love ya.. Ann Graham =)
